You Can’t Legislate Love, No. 1 (2012)

Normally, I treat my photographs as Rhorschach tests, providing little context to what I was thinking when I made them, leaving them open to the viewers’ interpretation.

For this, the first in an experimental series, I’m telling you exactly what I was thinking and here’s why: As a human being, a devoted husband and a native North Carolinian, it saddens, disappoints and enrages me that our state’s legislators chose to spend what little time they hold session to weave bigotry, hate and restrictions on the basic freedom of being able to choose whom to love into our Constitution.

When you vote, vote against Amendment One.
