The PhotoSmith
A new home for twenty-eight years of artwork celebrating the marvel of the human form.
Be there when the door opens.
One note when the site is ready. Nothing else.

What's going on?
I've been making fine art nude photographs for twenty-eight years, most of them of people who arrived at my studio with some version of the same question: who am I when you strip back everything to the core of my being?
The work is collaborative by necessity. I don't photograph people so much as create with them. The images and artwork come from the conversations, not the camera. A lot of it is figure work, and I've never been interested in treating the body as a scandal. It's the most honest material there is.
The old site was a portfolio built to showcase my work and feed the attention economy. This one is being rebuilt for the people who want to delve into, experience, and understand the work, and for the people in it.

From the archive
A small taste. More soon.
What's coming
An exclusive archive and private exhibition gallery, maintained by the artist.
A membership site — mine, not a platform's. The full archive, new work as it's made, and the notes and contact sheets that usually never leave my office.
It won't be a feed. Nothing here is designed to be scrolled past. Think of it as a print room you can walk into, run by the person who made the prints and who still knows everyone in them.
On consent & collaboration
Everyone I've photographed has a standing invitation back into the work.
To see what exists of them, to ask for it, to ask for it to come down. That hasn't changed in twenty-eight years and it isn't changing now. Consent isn't a form you sign at the start of a session; it's the relationship the whole practice rests on.
